Leave Me A Clone

Posted in Lyrics, Poetry at Rest on July 7th, 2002

Another loss, the others gain
This story had a different start
Of one who changed mankind in feign
A child with faith like a child
Seeking new beginnings
From worlds with different ends
And still believed in winning
After the scores were compiled

Then he faced the world
With no one by his side
Took a backseat to the drivers
And went along for the ride
He thought, It’s too tough to be in this alone
I give up—just Leave Me A Clone

Injustice, inhumanity
Used to motivate his cause
But was just the reality
He couldn’t do anything about
The movers wouldn’t shake
So he had to deal with himself
As just another mistake
That the world could do without

Then he faced the world
With no one by his side
Took a backseat to the drivers
And went along for the ride
He thought, It’s too tough to be in this alone
I give up—just Leave Me A Clone

Once upon a time he thrived
On all he had to offer life
Yet came a day his mind deprived
When he had to think and act as thus
Hence, he became a clone
The world will not miss him
Though he didn’t go alone
It happened to all of us

When we faced the world
With no one by our side
We sat behind the drivers
And went along for the ride
We said, It’s too tough to be in this alone
We give up—just Leave Us A Clone
